How to Get Your Brand Mentioned in ChatGPT, Gemini & Perplexity
Want to show up inside AI search results? Here's a practical plan for becoming quotable — not just rankable.

Being invisible in AI search is a new kind of risk. You can rank on page one of Google and still never be mentioned by ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity, because these systems draw from a different set of signals than traditional search.

of AI Overview citations come from sources outside the top ten traditional results
Source · Authoritas
That number tells you rankings alone are not enough. AI systems quote sources for clarity, credibility and entity strength. Your job is to become the most quotable version of your brand.
Step 01
Make your entity unambiguous
AI models need to know who you are, what you do and who you serve. Conflicting descriptions across platforms make that impossible.
Use one exact brand name everywhere
Write a single clear sentence describing what you do
Keep location and service mentions consistent
Add Organisation, LocalBusiness and Service schema
Step 02
Answer questions directly on your site
Create pages and FAQs that answer the exact questions your buyers ask. Lead with the answer, then support it with proof. Waffle gets summarised away.
- Headings phrased as real questions
- First paragraph contains the answer
- Short paragraphs and honest lists
- Updated dates and named authors
Step 03
Earn mentions where models already look
Retrieval systems favour sources they already trust. Coverage in industry publications, well-maintained directories and original research increases the chance your brand is pulled into the answer.
Rule of thumb
If a source would impress a human researcher, it probably impresses a retrieval model too.
Step 04
Track share of citation
Measure how often AI systems mention you for the prompts that matter. If you don't track it, you can't improve it. Share of citation is the metric that matters now.
